Class 1 to 6
In Waldorf education we talk about classes. Toddlers are called preschoolers and what group 3 is in regular education is called class 1 in Waldorf.
Every school day starts with half an hour of pre-schooling. In periods of three to four weeks there is then the period education. During the period, attention is focused on one main subject. In the first years this is language, arithmetic and local studies. From class 4 (group 6) geography and zoology are taught, from class 5 botany and history and in class 6 geometry, physics and mineralogy are added.
Eurythmy is taught during 2 periods of 9 weeks each. Immediately after playing outside in the afternoon the children have enough energy to concentrate. In the classroom there is attention for social and creative development during lessons in painting, music, theatre and gym.
Throughout the year we organise parents' evenings per class to update the parents/carers on educational developments, the atmosphere in the classroom and the activities. In addition, the parents/carers also have individual progress discussions with their child's teacher.
